Thaco Agri is adding a new pig project in Gia Lai with a planned capacity of about 1.34 million pigs/year, expanding its pig investment portfolio that already includes farms in Bình Định, An Giang and Đắk Lắk.

The Pờ Tó project, recently approved by Gia Lai authorities, will cover more than 1624 ha with investment of about VND 3.8 trillion (USD 146 million). Around 225 ha will be used for barns, warehouses, production facilities, offices and supporting infrastructure.

The project is designed for a regular population of about 566,000 pigs. Planned outputs include boars, grandparent sows and gilts, breeding pigs and commercial porkers. Construction is scheduled to begin in early 2027, with operations targeted for Q1 2028.

Thaco Agri currently lists a 132,000-head operation in Bình Định with capacity for 300,000 porkers/year. In An Giang, its Tịnh Biên, Tri Tôn 1 and Tri Tôn 2 farms have a combined herd capacity of 95,900 head and stated porker capacity of 199,600/year.

In Đắk Lắk, Thaco Agri identifies its project as a nucleus breeding farm supplying breeding pigs to its internal pig chain. The company lists a total herd of 330,000 head and a stated capacity of 800,000 commercial porkers/year.
